How to Prepare for Phone Advising with Dr. Chang, Director of Admissions

Every year, Detroit Mercy Dental offers advising for prospective candidates for the Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) program.  Appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis and are given in 15 minute blocks.  Once the cycle opens, advising is NOT available to any candidates.

Before requesting an appointment, please check the admissions website for:

  1. pre-requisite coursework
  2. number of shadowing hours
  3. guidelines for letters of recommendation
  4. profile of the most recent admitted class

If you have multiple transcripts, request unofficial electronic versions.  Helpful, but not required – calculate your science GPA (biology, chemistry, physics, math courses) and overall GPA.   For help, use this website https://gpacalculator.net/how-to-calculate-gpa/

If you are a past applicant, your AADSAS ID number and year of application.

Please keep in mind that the purpose of these appointments is to prepare candidates for application or to give suggestions to re-applicants to strengthen their application.  Because we do holistic review and because the applicant pool changes every cycle, we will not state or quantify a candidate’s chances of gaining acceptance.

To request an advising appointment, please contact Ms. Elena Muñoz (munozec@udmercy.edu) with your full name, electronic transcripts or AADSAS ID and a phone number to reach you.
